why we do what we do

do you want the long answer or the short one? :)

in short, because we love it, that's why.
i like taking pictures and jasmine likes writing.
i like writing too but i think she does it better.
one day i might try writing, and perhaps jas might take pictures although she says no, not for now anyway.

and then the longer one.
well we do hope and sincerely wish for art to be less about self-gratification and more about helping others. we'd like to help children discover themselves and their world through writing and photography. as such we are donating all profits and royalties earned from the sale of light is like water to a fund that is dedicated to such a cause. to be honest, we are still in the process of deciding which fund to contribute to, although at the moment it seems to be kidswithcameras.org- an organisation that seeks to help children in developing countries find their voice through photography.

we are also interested in readings and workshops which aim to encourage young writers and artists to start on their own creative projects.
